How long does an eye exam take?
Most comprehensive eye exams usually take less than an hour, but this varies depending on your visual needs and any additional testing required.
Insurance & Payment
What insurance plans do you accept?
Eye Pros accepts many vision and medical insurance plans. Coverage varies by location and provider, see our insurance page to see a complete list or contact us to ask specific questions.
Can I use my HSA or FSA?
Yes. Most eye exams, prescription glasses, contact lenses, and many medical eye care services are eligible HSA/FSA expenses.
How much does an eye exam cost?
Our comprehensive eye exam starts at $99 for self-pay patients. If you have vision insurance, your out-of-pocket cost will depend on your specific plan and the type of exam you need.
How much does a contact lens exam cost?
A contact lens exam includes additional testing and measurements beyond a comprehensive eye exam. For self-pay patients, the contact lens exam fee for single vision is $50. This is in addition to our comprehensive eye exam fee. Multifocal contact lens exams are $85. We also fit hard contact lenses, but the price varies by brand. Vision insurance coverage varies by plan.
Eye Exams & Vision Care
How often should I have an eye exam?
Most adults should have an eye exam every one to two years. Contact lens wearers typically require annual exams. Your doctor may recommend more frequent visits based on your eye health.
What happens during an eye exam?
Your eye doctor will evaluate your vision, check your prescription, examine the health of your eyes, and screen for conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic eye disease, and macular degeneration.
Can an eye exam detect health problems?
Yes. Eye exams can sometimes reveal signs of diabetes, high blood pressure, autoimmune conditions, and other systemic health issues.
Do I need an eye exam if my vision seems fine?
Yes. Many eye diseases develop without noticeable symptoms in their early stages. Routine exams help detect problems before vision loss occurs.
Children's Eye Exams
What age should my child have their first eye exam?
The American Optometric Association recommends comprehensive eye exams beginning at 6–12 months, again around age 3, and again before starting school.
What age children do you see?
Most Eye Pros providers see children beginning around age 5, with select providers seeing younger children. When scheduling, our team will help match your child with the appropriate doctor.
How do I know if my child needs an eye exam?
Signs may include:
- Squinting
- Headaches
- Holding devices very close
- Difficulty reading
- Poor school performance
- Eye rubbing

Do you offer multifocal contact lenses?
