Kids Eye Exams

Supporting Healthy Vision as Children Grow

Many children don’t realize when their vision isn’t clear, which can impact learning, reading, and everyday activities. At Eye Pros, our doctors provide kids eye exams in a comfortable, family-friendly setting using techniques designed to work for children of all ages.

Eye Exams for Children of All Ages

Eye Pros provides eye exams for children of all ages in a welcoming and family-friendly environment.

Most of our doctors see children starting around age 5, with select providers also available for younger children. Our team uses gentle, age-appropriate techniques to help children feel comfortable during their visit.

Why Eye Exams Are Important for Children

Children often assume their vision is normal because they don't know any different. Vision problems can affect learning, reading, and everyday activities without always being obvious.

Regular eye exams help detect issues early and ensure children have the visual skills needed for school, sports, and daily life.

Vision Milestones

Infants (6-12 months)
Basic screening of eye alignment and development

Toddlers (around age 3)
Evaluation for early vision problems and coordination

School-age children (5+ years)
Annual exams help ensure clear vision for learning and activities

Eye Exams for Children Who Can't Read Yet

Many parents wonder if their child is too young for an eye exam.

Our doctors use testing methods designed for young children that rely on shapes, pictures, and lights instead of letters. This allows us to evaluate vision even in children who cannot yet read.

Signs Your Child May Have a Vision Problem

Children may not realize their vision isn't clear. Parents should watch for signs such as:

  • Squinting frequently
  • Sitting very close to screens or books
  • Complaints of headaches or tired eyes
  • Covering one eye
  • Difficulty focusing on schoolwork
  • Trouble with hand-eye coordination

If you notice any of these signs, an eye exam can help determine whether vision may be affecting your child's daily activities.

Family-Friendly Care for Children

Eye Pros provides kids eye exams at all of our locations in a comfortable, family-friendly environment. Our doctors and staff work to create a positive experience for children, using age-appropriate communication and taking extra time when needed to help them feel at ease.

When scheduling, parents are encouraged to mention their child’s age so we can match them with the appropriate provider and ensure the best experience.
